Suraya the Performer
 With the constant desire to further her experiences and training in belly dance Suraya is currently exploring and dancing in the beautiful city of Auckland in New Zealand. She is extremely excited to be part of the award winning belly dance troupe Phoenix belly dance! Based in Auckland, this belly dance troupe perform at a huge range of events and are currently planning their trip to Sydney in 2013. Click here to read a review of a recent event.
Suraya is a performer of Egyptian belly dance and is known for her fluid, earthy and feminine style. Offering a warm and fun performance, Suraya is asked to perform at a real variety of events. A set can include a selection of oriental and/or folkloric dances and usually a costume change. Sets will be planned in advance and can be tailored specifically to your event.
Suraya can perform with a variety of props (space permitting) including veil, isis wings, sagat (finger cymbals), sword, assaya (cane) and fan veils.
Previous performances include events such as: UK Brisfest, L-Dubstock, Bath Fringe festival, The Fabulous Travelling Bagfolk Festival, St Paul's Carnival, Viva La Diva and many more. New Zealand Jambalaya Dance festival, It's all about the Fusion. Suraya is available for parties, events, hen parties and restaurants.

Suraya and Stephi, UK

 Both teachers of egyptian belly dance, Suraya and Stephi provide a varied and exciting show with a selection of oriental and folkloric dances. They have been described as fluid, powerful, earthy and feminine dancers.
A performance set can include prop work such as zills (finger cymbals) or bellydance with veil, Saidi dance (folkloric dance with cane), Ghawazee gypsy dance (traditional folkloric Egyptian dance), Oriental bellydance to traditional music and Drum solos – dance to drumming either to live or to a recorded track bringing out the sharper isolating movements of the dance.
They also collaborate with fantastic live drummers Ben Jammin (djembe), Mirko Cossu (darbuka) and Stevie Peas (darbuka) which adds a more traditional, ‘earthy’ and interactive element to the performance.
